55 Seventy, the highly-anticipated private members’ club, announced today that its Houston location will open on Friday, November 27 at 3015 Richmond Ave, Houston, TX 77098. The private members club is designed for those who appreciate exceptional dining, world-class wine, and a strong sense of community. The club will debut with two dining concepts under one roof: its signature lounge and dining room and Canopy Bar, a 10,000 square foot rooftop restaurant overlooking Levy Park.
Canopy Bar brings a Mediterranean menu to the rooftop, anchored by a pizza oven, with indoor and outdoor seating designed for long afternoons and unhurried evenings above the city.
Downstairs, the main lounge and dining room offer a more intimate setting with an upscale American menu shaped by the culinary team’s years in Michelin starred kitchens, carrying forward the standard 55 Seventy has set in Dallas since 2022. Both menus move with the seasons, built around ingredients at their peak, so members find something new with each visit.
Executive Chef Diego Fernandez and Executive Banquet Chef Jacob Solomon will lead the culinary program, bringing their impressive pedigrees and extensive experience to the club’s culinary vision across the signature lounge and dining room, Canopy Bar, private dining, and events.
Born in Mexico City, Fernandez helped open his family’s acclaimed Azuca Nuevo Latino in San Antonio before cooking at San Francisco’s Quince and Chicago’s three Michelin starred Alinea. Most recently, Fernandez served as the research and development chef for Pappas Restaurants.
Executive Banquet Chef Jacob Solomon oversees private dining and events. A Chicago native, Solomon was part of the team at NoMi when it earned its Michelin star, later served as a Corporate Executive Chef for Michael Mina across 20 operations, and opened Orla at the Regent Santa Monica Beach as Executive Chef.
“Diego and Jacob have cooked in some of the most respected kitchens in the country, and they understand what makes 55 Seventy different,” said Tommy Shuey, Founder/CEO of 55Seventy. “In Dallas, we set out to serve the best food in the city, and we are holding Houston to that same standard. This team will make Houston’s 55 Seventy entirely its own.”
Leading the wine program as Executive Director of Wine is Master Sommelier Justin Moore. Moore is one of just 305 professionals worldwide to hold the Master Sommelier title. For the past four years, he has led the wine programs at Rose’s Restaurant Group in Washington, D.C., including its Michelin starred restaurants Pineapple and Pearls, Rose’s Luxury, and Little Pearl. A former Executive Chef who oversaw four Charleston kitchens by age 25, Moore moved into wine in Nashville before advancing through the Court of Master Sommeliers and earning his Master Sommelier title in 2019. Before joining Rose’s, he built programs at Garagiste in Las Vegas.
“I have deep respect for the classic benchmark producers, and I love finding the bottle nobody has heard of yet,” said Moore. “Houston appreciates both, and our list will reflect that.”
“Houston has been ready for a club like this, and this team is the reason we are ready for Houston,” said Shuey. “Diego, Jacob, and Justin bring a level of experience that shows in every detail, from the rooftop to the cellar.”
The design of 55 Seventy Houston pairs the architecture of acclaimed Houston-based Abel Design Group with interiors by award-winning Houston-based Gin Design Group. The club features an Art Deco-inspired aesthetic layered with modern, refined touches, balancing sophistication with a sense of warmth and ease that feels welcoming from the moment members arrive.
Spanning 30,000 square feet, the club is designed around connection, with 8,000 square feet of integrated dining and lounge space across the first and second floors rather than a traditional formal dining room, creating a relaxed setting for members to gather, dine and enjoy wine together. Expansive floor-to-ceiling windows bring abundant natural light throughout each level, while a dedicated wine lounge centers around a large marble counter where every bottle is opened and decanted.
On the rooftop, a lush patio oasis inspired by the greenery and open spaces of neighboring Levy Park will feature trees, water features, a fireplace and firepits overlooking the park. Folding glass doors will allow a portion of the patio to be enclosed, creating a seamless indoor-outdoor setting that can be enjoyed year-round.
