Vandelay Companies – a Texas-based hospitality and investment company – is expanding to San Antonio with two of its signature concepts, Hudson House and Jack & Harry’s, set to open side by side at 5307 Broadway in Alamo Heights in 2027. Hudson House is slated to open late Spring 2027, with Jack & Harry’s to follow Summer 2027. Exact opening dates will be announced closer to launch.
The two restaurants will occupy the ground floor of the former Nix Health building at 5307 Broadway in Alamo Heights, a two-story property currently undergoing an adaptive reuse by San Antonio-based Ridgemont Properties. Originally built in 1965, the building is being transformed from its former medical use back to its retail origins, including the reopening of its historic breezeway. The street level will feature two thoughtfully designed restaurant spaces, with office space located above.
“This development has truly been a team effort. We’re grateful to the City of Alamo Heights for supporting transformative development along the Broadway Corridor, to SHOP Companies for bringing best-in-class food and beverage operators to the project, and to Vandelay Companies for believing in our vision for this property and the community,” said Trebes Sasser, Jr., VP of Ridgemont Properties, Inc. “Hudson House is one of the state’s most recognized food and beverage brands, while Jack & Harry’s fills a real need for elevated dining in Alamo Heights. We’re proud to have both anchoring the development.”
Hudson House will occupy approximately 6,360 square feet. Since opening the first Hudson House 2017, the East Coast-inspired neighborhood favorite has become a fixture across Texas for lunch, brunch, dinner and especially happy hour. The brand is known for its award-winning cheeseburger, flown-in-daily East Coast oysters, a robust raw bar and sushi program, and the cult-favorite “World’s Coldest Martini,” served on tap and chilled to a crisp 10 degrees. Interiors channel the charm of a traditional New England dining institution, with warm leather booths, a wraparound bar and a sit-down raw bar.
Jack & Harry’s will occupy approximately 5,950 square feet and marks the concept’s first location outside of Dallas. An elevated Southern steakhouse inspired by the culture, cuisine and hospitality of New Orleans, Jack & Harry’s debuted in 2024 and quickly became known for its French-influenced cooking, dry-aged steaks, Gulf seafood, Bourbon Street-inspired cocktails and a French-forward wine program. The San Antonio location will carry the brand’s signature design language of imported New Orleans brick, warm wood paneling and antique finishes that evoke the French Quarter.
“San Antonio has been on our radar for a long time, and Alamo Heights felt like the right place for us,” says Hunter Pond, Founder, Chairman & CEO of Vandelay Companies. “Broadway has a strong sense of history and a real neighborhood identity, which is something we value. Bringing Hudson House and Jack & Harry’s here together gives us the opportunity to introduce two distinct experiences while becoming part of a community we’ve admired for years.”
The San Antonio expansion reflects Vandelay Companies’ broader approach to growth: identifying strong neighborhoods and markets, investing in each restaurant for the long term and building concepts designed to become lasting parts of the communities they serve.
Additional details surrounding the menus, design and opening timelines will be announced closer to each restaurant’s debut.
