Jashan, the Plano restaurant celebrating the depth, history and evolution of Indian cuisine, will welcome Chef Atul Kochhar, one of the most influential figures in modern Indian dining, for a three-day culinary collaboration October 3–5. Rather than repeat a single menu throughout his visit, Kochhar and the Jashan team will present three completely different dining experiences over three nights, each offering a distinct perspective on Indian cuisine, technique and hospitality.
Kochhar made culinary history in 2001, when Tamarind in London earned a Michelin star, making him the first Indian chef to receive a Michelin star. He later opened his own London restaurant, Benares, which earned a Michelin star in 2007. Over the course of his career, Kochhar has helped bring Indian cuisine into the international fine-dining conversation, showcasing its complexity and regional diversity to audiences around the world.
For Jashan Chef, Founder & President Prasanna Singaraju, Kochhar’s visit represents a particularly meaningful moment. Long before opening Jashan, Singaraju looked to chefs like Kochhar as examples of what could be possible for Indian cuisine on the world stage.
Kochhar’s approach to Indian cuisine — treating it with seriousness, precision and reverence rather than as something that needed to be explained or made more accessible — helped inspire Singaraju’s own ambitions and ultimately his vision for Jashan. His visit brings that influence full circle, with the two chefs now sharing a kitchen and creating an experience together.
The weekend begins on Saturday, October 3, with Chef Atul Kochhar at Jashan, when Kochhar takes over the restaurant’s tasting-menu experience for one evening. Guests will experience an exclusive seven-course menu created by Kochhar, replacing Jashan’s signature Jashan 101 and Taste of India tasting menus for the night. The experience is $140++ per guest.
On Sunday, October 4, Jashan will host 10 Hands — The Sunday Supper, bringing five chefs together in one kitchen: Chef Atul Kochhar, Chef Akshraj Jodha, Chef Ashish Bhasin, Chef Ramesh Thangaraj and Chef Prasanna Singaraju. Representing different generations, backgrounds and journeys through Indian cuisine, the five chefs will collaborate on a menu designed to be shared around the table. Limited to 60 guests, the Sunday supper will emphasize the communal nature of Indian hospitality, with dishes meant to be passed, discussed and experienced together. Tickets are $160++ per guest.
The three-day collaboration concludes on Monday, October 5, with Dil Se — Chef Atul Kochhar × Chef Prasanna, the weekend’s most intimate experience. Limited to just 20 guests and one seating, the dinner brings Kochhar and Singaraju together for a deeply personal collaborative menu. Dil Se, meaning “from the heart,” reflects both Singaraju’s admiration for a chef who helped shape his own ambitions and Jashan’s belief that food is inseparable from memory, culture and connection. Tickets are $225++ per guest.
