Solmar Hotels & Resorts, a pioneer of Baja California Sur hospitality since 1974, has appointed Mauricio Salicrup as Chief Executive Officer and Michel Albahari as Chief Operating Officer. The new structure strengthens the company’s corporate governance model and supports the growth strategy the group is building for the years ahead. Together the two executives bring the legacy of one of the founding families of tourism in Los Cabos alongside broad experience across the hospitality industry.

The appointments come as Solmar Hotels & Resorts advances a long-term investment strategy focused on the guest experience and sustainable growth. Earlier this year, the company announced a US$6 million investment across its Los Cabos portfolio, spanning new accommodations, guest room renovations and energy-efficient infrastructure upgrades. At Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes, an expansion set for completion in 2027 will add new five-bedroom villas and penthouse-style suites, while improvements across Playa Grande Resort and Grand Solmar Land’s End include renovated rooms, refreshed public spaces, upgraded amenities and energy optimization systems.

More than three decades leading tourism operations

As CEO, Salicrup leads the group’s overall strategy, backed by more than 35 years in the tourism industry and more than three decades in executive roles at Mexican and international companies.

“It is an honor to take on the leadership of a company that has helped shape the history of tourism in Los Cabos,” said Mauricio Salicrup. “Our commitment is to build on a legacy more than five decades in the making, with an operation that keeps growing more efficient, more innovative and more sustainable, so we can continue delivering exceptional experiences for our guests and creating value for our team members, our business partners and the community.”

His work extends beyond hotel operations, and he has become one of the leading voices for the tourism sector in Baja California Sur. He served on the board of the Los Cabos Hotel Association for eight years and currently advises its presidency. He is Technical Secretary of the Los Cabos Tourism Board (FITURCA) and a member of the Baja California Sur State Tourism Board (FITUES), and he represents Los Cabos on Mexico’s National Tourism Business Council (CNET).

Operational excellence for a new chapter

As Chief Operating Officer, Albahari is responsible for service standards and operating efficiency across every property in the group, leading a culture built on innovation, continuous improvement and guest satisfaction.

“Our main goal is to keep raising the service standards that define Solmar Hotels & Resorts,” said Michel Albahari. “We will work to optimize every operating process, bring in best practices and build a culture of continuous improvement that delivers memorable experiences for our guests, while maintaining the quality, the warmth and the excellence that characterize the brand.”

Solmar Hotels & Resorts operates a portfolio of six hotels: Grand Solmar Land’s End Resort & Spa, Grand Solmar Pacific Dunes Resort Golf & Spa, home to Solmar Golf Links, Playa Grande Resort & Grand Spa, The Ridge at Playa Grande, Solmar Resort and Grand Solmar The Residences, along with a culinary program of four fine dining restaurants.

With this structure in place, Solmar Hotels & Resorts begins a chapter focused on accelerating growth, strengthening its standing as one of Mexico’s leading hotel groups and continuing to contribute to the economic and social development of Los Cabos.
