Ted's Montana Grill, a restaurant concept inspired by the American West, today announced it was awarded LEED Gold certification under the LEED for Interior Design and Construction: Retail rating system for its Alpharetta restaurant, which opened October of 2014. The U.S. Green Building Council's LEED green building program is the preeminent program for the design, construction, maintenance, and operations of high-performance green buildings.

LEED Gold certification is the second-highest rating a building can receive. LEED-certified projects are rated in the following categories:

  • Sustainable Sites
  • Water Efficiency
  • Energy and Atmosphere
  • Materials and Resources
  • Indoor Environmental Quality

Ted’s is committed to making ecologically responsible decisions for its 46 restaurants nationwide. From the smallest energy-efficient light bulb, to a companywide recycling program, to the way it designs and builds restaurants, Ted’s is making good on its founders’ promise to turn a passion for the environment into everyday business practices.

“Ted’s was founded on the basis of acting responsibly and making environmental considerations a priority,” says George McKerrow, co-founder and CEO, Ted’s Montana Grill.  “Working to attain LEED Gold certification is part of our commitment to sustainability. We are proud to have this achievement in the Alpharetta community,” McKerrow adds.
This is Ted’s first restaurant that is LEED-certified. Additionally, the Turner Building in Atlanta is the first certified Zero Waste Zone building in the country.
