Deanie's Seafood Restaurants and Seafood Market announces it is the first restaurant and seafood market in New Orleans to have earned Louisiana Wild Seafood Certification, guaranteeing its customers and patrons that the seafood they enjoy is natural, sustainable, and sourced from Louisiana waters. The restaurants are the second and the third in the state to have become certified.

The voluntary Louisiana Seafood Certification Program guarantees that seafood bearing the Certified Authentic Louisiana Wild Seafood label is caught in the Gulf of Mexico or Gulf Coast state waters by Louisiana licensed fishermen, and is landed, processed, and packaged in Louisiana.

"This program and associated logo help assure consumers [that] they are sourcing authentic, wild Louisiana seafood, which is world renowned for its exceptional taste and quality,” says Robert Barham, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries secretary.

Serving more than 1 million diners a year, Deanie’s is recognized as one of the best seafood restaurants in New Orleans and is nationally known for offering fresh Louisiana seafood prepared with Deanie’s Signature Creole Seasonings, including fresh and fried Oysters, Shrimp, Blue Crab, and Crawfish. Deanie’s Seafood operates two restaurants in the New Orleans area, including its original restaurant and seafood market located in Bucktown and a second restaurant in the French Quarter, as well as an online retail shop for fresh Louisiana seafood and prepared items.

“Deanie’s Seafood has prided itself on serving fresh Louisiana seafood for more than 50 years, and we are grateful to the fishing industry that allows us to continue to serve the best seafood in the country,” said Deanie’s Seafood proprietor Barbara Chifici. “We were eager to enroll in the Louisiana Wild Seafood program, which lets consumers know they’re getting authentic Louisiana seafood that is held to the highest standards in the world.”

The Louisiana Seafood Certification program was established through a partnership with the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board and Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries to ensure the integrity of Louisiana seafood and build a brand known for fresh flavor, consistent quality, and safety. Participation is open to all fishermen, docks, dealers, processors, grocers, and restaurants who meet the program requirements.
