Famous Dave's of America announced its Gaithersburg, Maryland, location will close on September 8, and a new restaurant will open the following week in Germantown while construction continues at a site in Timonium.

After more than a decade on Quince Orchard Road in Gaithersburg, Famous Dave's lease will expire next month.

"Famous Dave's has been a proud member of the Gaithersburg community for more than 10 years and it has been an honor to serve our guests here," says John Spoon, director of operations for Famous Dave's of America. "On behalf of everyone at Famous Dave's, we want to thank all of our guests, team members, area businesses, and residents for making us feel so welcome over the years."

Famous Dave's entered the Maryland market 13 years ago with its first location in Columbia. Spoon says, "While it's always difficult to close a restaurant, the relocation to Germantown is based on strategic decisions that support our future growth. We remain committed to a long-term strategy of developing this region and invite our guests to come visit us at one of our other locations."

Part of that strategy includes the new Germantown location at 20660 Seneca Meadows Parkway. The 5,200 square foot full-service restaurant will seat 171 guests and can accommodate another 57 on a 1,600 square foot patio. They plan to open their doors for lunch on Monday, September 16.

Approximately two months later, the Timonium community will welcome Famous Dave's in a new 175-seat full-service restaurant at 2235 York Road, just north of the Maryland State Fairgrounds.

With the addition of the new Germantown location in mid-September, this market will be home to a total of nine Famous Dave's restaurants including Annapolis, Alexandria, Columbia, Falls Church, Frederick, Laurel, Owings Mills, and Waldorf. Timonium's November opening will bring the total to ten.
