New England Culinary Institute students and faculty will travel to New York City September 28 & 29 to assist with the second annual Taste of France Show. “This is the largest showing of French innovation and culture in the U.S. and will have everything including very fine food and wine. NECI is the only culinary school invited and will assist with cooking demonstrations, tastings, and the logistics of organizing the 120,000 meals planned for the event,” says NECI vice president of Culinary Operations and executive chef Jean-Louis Gerin.

The non-profit Taste of France will host the festival in Bryant Park to showcase French cuisine, cosmetics, fashion, technology, and much more. Center stage may belong to the more than 30 master chefs. NECI students will work alongside them to help prepare distinct regional and innovative dishes for visitors to explore. Daniel Boulud, Bernard Liberatore, Claude Godard, Christian Tetedoie, and Jean-Louis Dumonet are among those participating, as are masters of French wine such as Michel Courveux of Per Se.

“NECI students will not only get a chance to spend two days immersed in French culture, they will take part in bringing a very memorable experience to the public. It is a great privilege for us and great opportunity for everyone who attends,” Gerin says.
