Celebrity chef Richard Sandoval along with partners Kaz Okochi and Ivan Iricanin are pleased to announce the appointment of Eric McKamey as the new chef de Cuisine of their Latin-Asian inspired small plates restaurant, Masa 14, located at 1825 14th Street, NW, 20009.  A native of the district, McKamey will bring his 13 years of experience to the restaurant’s kitchen this season.  Drawing inspiration from culinary traditions, chef plans to execute dishes with his modern take on Latin American and Asian foods.  The latest fall menu will introduce diners to McKamey’s new creations such as Thai Shrimp Ceviche with coconut milk, Serrano chili, basil, and mango; Chimichurri Grilled Baby Octopus with cucumber, nuoc cham, roasted peanut, and snow pea shoot, as well as the hearty Drunken Adobo Pork with long beans, cilantro, chayote squash, and tequila.  His menu will rely heavily on the seasonal products of local farmers.

Prior to joining Masa 14, McKamey held the position of executive chef at The Curious Grape in Arlington, Virginia, which earned a place as one of the “50 Best Restaurants 2012” in Northern Virginia Magazine.  His career also includes working as sous chef at the notable PassionFish in Reston, VA, as well as serving as the executive chef at both Local 16 and Etrusco in the vibrant Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C.  At the age of 29, McKamey has gained invaluable experiencing working in many of Washington’s most respected kitchens, including The Oval Room, Proof, Central Michel Richard, CityZen, Palena and 2941.
