Transforming Data into Knowledge will honor Sally Smith, president and CEO of Buffalo Wild Wings, with the 2016 Workplace Legacy Award. The award will be presented at the annual Global Best Practices Conference produced by TDn2K [parent company of People Report, Black Box Intelligence, and White Box Social Intelligence] from January 17-19 in Dallas.

The Legacy Award recognizes a leader in the restaurant industry who has clearly demonstrated success in balancing superior people practices and best in class operational results. In addition, their employees, organizations, and communities have benefited from their leadership.

“We are delighted to honor Sally Smith with this very special Workplace Legacy Award. Sally and her brilliant management team have been working quietly for decades to create a culture and business model that continues to grow and thrive” says Joni Thomas Doolin, CEO and founder of TDn2K. “Her financial results are widely known in the marketplace and her steady vision and leadership have been fundamental to creating a great place to work for over 50,000 employees.”

“Sally exudes a unique combination of business acumen, integrity, discipline and ‘Minnesota Nice’ that has positioned her as one of our industry’s exceptional and most admired leaders,” comments Wally Doolin, chairman and founder of TDn2K.

“It’s truly an honor to receive this prestigious award from TDn2K,” Sally Smith says. “With over 1,140 restaurants, we are proud to provide opportunities for our dedicated team members as well as be active in the local communities we serve. It’s a privilege to work in the restaurant industry and winning this award is a tribute to the service our team members provide guests every day.”

The Workplace Legacy Award was given for the first time in 2005 and has honored incredible industry leaders such as Greg Creed, CEO of Taco Bell, Doug Brooks, chairman and CEO of Brinker International, Gene Lee, president and CEO of Darden Restaurants, and most recently in 2015, John Miller, president and CEO of Denny’s Restaurants.
