New York’s Fig & Olive kitchen and tasting bar is preparing to open its first West Coast location this month.

The expansive 8,000-square-foot, split-level space will be located on Melrose Place in West Hollywood, California, capable of accommodating up to 300 diners.

As in New York, meals will center around the refined flavors of the French Riviera and coastal regions of the Mediterranean in a menu prepared by executive chef Pascal Lorange. A large selection of olive oils is offered to guests to taste at the beginning of every meal and each dish is designed to pair with an oil.

The wine list will lean strongly on wines from the South of France, Spain, and Italy, and there will be a selection of fresh, handmade cocktails.

In addition, Fig & Olive Melrose Place will offer a large collection of extra virgin olive oils for purchase, which diners can sample and buy.

Fig & Olive will feature a communal tasting table as well as individual seating.

“At Fig & Olive, I want to highlight our menu’s core ingredient of olive oil, which we use in place of butter in our dishes—ranging from a sweet and delicate olive oil from the French Riviera that pairs well with a steamed lemon sole papillote, to a green-fruit Provence olive oil that we serve with a green apple sorbet,” says Laurent Halasz, founder of the restaurant.
