Bistro Lamazou opened in New York’s Murray Hill neighborhood last month, on April 21.

Bistro Lamazou will serve a range of Southern European and North African cuisines with a focus on charcuterie, cheeses and wines.

This new restaurant serves lunch, dinner, and tapas inspired by cuisines from France, Italy, Spain, Tunisia, and Morocco. The menu includes iconic dishes like risotto, couscous and paella. Executive chef Jean-Claude Teulade, a French master chef who has cooked in New York for the past 25 years is in charge of menu development.

The restaurant is the first for owners Aziz and Nancy Lamazou, who are known for their Lamazou cheese shop in Manhattan, which has been a neighborhood destination for 17 years.

To pair with the food and cheese, this new venue offers an extensive wine list and craft beers from America, Africa, and Europe. Bistro Lamazou features a full-service wine and liquor bar, an elegant cheese bar—one of the first cheese bars in New York City—a cozy lounge area, and a private room for up to 12 guests.

Designed by Nancy Lamazou, the 3,500-square-foot restaurant with its large open interior is brought to life in warm radish and vivid yellow colors. The design provides a fresh and crisp ambiance with soaring ceilings, chandeliers, and artist palettes floating above the bars, making a playful, yet elegant atmosphere for a space that seats up to 100 guests.
