Arbor Lodging Partners, owner of the historic Hotel Phillips, announced a partnership with DMK Restaurants to develop a brand new restaurant concept in Kansas City. DMK Restaurants is a Chicago-based hospitality company founded by industry veteran David Morton and five-time James Beard Award nominee Michael Kornick of mk.

“We like to dream big, and there’s no bigger dream than partnering with DMK Restaurants,” says Vamsi Bonthala, co-founder and CEO of Arbor Lodging Partners. “The vibrant nightlife and dining scene in Kansas City is ripe for a fresh new restaurant concept and we are thrilled to be part of this venture with a company the caliber of DMK Restaurants.”

Arbor Lodging Partners acquired Hotel Phillips in 2015. The art deco gem is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, and will join Curio by Hilton—a collection of unique hotels in cities across the globe—in 2017. The partnership with DMK Restaurants marks the first time the companies have teamed up to develop a hotel restaurant. The restaurant concept will be revealed in the coming months.

“We have a passion for food and restaurants, and we’re excited to embark on our first hotel venture with Arbor Lodging Partners,” adds David Morton, co-owner of DMK. “The dining experience we’re creating will have a timeless sensibility but a comfortable and approachable feel. It will be a place to gather after work or celebrate with friends and family. With the spectacular Hotel Phillips as a backdrop, we can’t wait to introduce the concept to the people of Kansas City.
