Evans Brewing Company, Inc., the oldest brewery in Orange County, just opened their first restaurant and tasting room, The Public House by Evans Brewing Co., in the SOCO District of Downtown Fullerton, California. The space features dark wood floors, exposed brick, and artwork highlighting the brand’s Orange County and California roots and offers a menu of inventive pub food, made in their scratch kitchen that complements the company’s craft ales and lagers.

Chef Amanda Platt, a Le Cordon Bleu and California School of Culinary Arts alum, who flexed her culinary prowess at several notable restaurants including Dish Bistro & Bar in Pasadena and two concept restaurants by the Kauffman Group, is the executive chef at The Public House and developed their unique menu. Selections include the signature Sweet Corn Skillet Hoe Cake, with peppers and onions, applewood smoked bacon and honey butter; Fennel Sausage Flatbread with shaved onions, marinara, shredded mozzarella and grated aged parmesan Reggiano; Fried Chicken Schnitzel Sandwich with arugula, manchego, charred cherry tomatoes and buttermilk ranch on a pretzel bun; and Wild Caught Salmon with a creole sauce. Even the vegetarian option is a thoughtful Grilled Portobello Banh Mi Sandwich served with pickled carrots and daikon, cucumbers, jalapenos, fresh herbs and sriracha aioli.

Equally impressive is the large selection of the award winning Evans Brewery beers as well as exceptional hand-crafted cocktails developed by the bar manager, Mariah Tatham. The bar program delivers contemporary versions of classic favorites like the Rising Sun—their take on a whiskey sour—made with Suntory Toki Japanese Whiskey, bitters, orgeat almond syrup and lemon, or the Chocolate Cordial made with Luxardo Amaretto, Cherry Heering, Bulleit Bourbon and Nitro Chocolatte.

In addition, The Public house offers a broad spectrum of live music five nights a week featuring acoustic guitar duos, classic country, top 40 rock, and the occasional jazz artist. This diversity gives The Public House an upbeat vibe that keeps patrons engaged while they enjoy the unique and upscale menu and craft cocktails and beers.

The restaurant celebrated their Grand Opening on Wednesday, November 30, by partnering with local nonprofit Fullerton Collaborative to raise funds for SOLFUL (Summer of Love Fullerton) summer school program. The owners, father & son, Mike & Evan Rapport want The Public House to become an integral part of the community and plan to host fundraisers for local deserving charities monthly.
