Melt Bar & Grilled, a Cleveland favorite for gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, has been dubbed Cleveland’s “Best Restaurant” by the readers of two of the top publications in the area.
First, The Cleveland Scene’s Best of Cleveland Awards for 2012 named Melt the “Best Restaurant” and hailed it as having the “Best Sandwich.” This is the second consecutive year for the “Best Restaurant” nod and the fifth year in a row for “Best Sandwich” in The Cleveland Scene.
Additionally, the Cleveland magazine Silver Spoon Awards were announced May 1. Melt won or placed in nine categories:

- No. 1 Best Service
- No. 1 Best People Watching
- No. 1 Best Beer Selection
- No. 2 Best Cocktails
- No. 2 Best Place for Family Dining
- No. 3 Best Soup

Annually, the Silver Spoon Awards recognize the best of the best restaurants in Cleveland. The 2012 awardees will be honored at the 18th annual Cleveland Magazine Silver Spoon Awards Party, a strolling food and wine tasting event, from 6 to 9 p.m. May 23 at the Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center, where guests will sample signature dishes from more than 30 of Northeast Ohio’s best award-winning restaurants and eight international wineries.
Melt has been recognized by a plethora of grilled cheese lovers, including PETA, who praised Melt’s “Kindergarten” grilled cheese sandwich as a top vegan choice; ESPN The Magazine, which named Melt one of the top 10 best sports bars in the country; and Field and Stream Magazine, which featured Melt’s Lake Erie Monster walleye sandwich in a full-page spread.
Melt was also named the “Best Sandwich Shop” in the 2011 Fox 8 Cleveland Hot List, and has a slew of other awards and honors from both local and national publications.
