Western Addition Restaurant Group is doubling down in Post Oak Plaza. Slated to open in spring 2023, Balboa Surf Club is an upscale Pacific-inspired seafood restaurant from the company behind new Post Oak favorite, il Bracco. Located at 1753 Post Oak Boulevard, the two concepts will anchor the Uptown area shopping center, on the north and south ends.
Balboa Surf Club will offer the comfortable fine dining quality and warm hospitality that customers have learned to expect from Western Addition restaurants. The menu focuses on a variety of fresh seafood, including a curated sushi program, with whole fish and prime meats butchered in-house daily, as well as satisfying entrée salads, and hearty sandwiches featuring house-made bread and buns. Cocktails made with fresh juices and premium liquors, including a signature frozen drink, will be enjoyed at the sprawling bar, and generous patio that runs along Post Oak Boulevard. A high-end wine list, displayed in a glass fronted wine room, rounds out the dining experience.

A total remodel of the building is being led by Michael Hsu Office of Architecture in conjunction with Mary Lucille Quick, VP of Design for Western Addition. The vintage-coastal interior is inspired by both mid-century residential and Brazilian Brutalism, giving the space a timeless elegance. A grand, open-air entry court, spacious 1,200 square foot, covered patio and impressive water feature will create a bold statement along Post Oak Boulevard. The restaurant will feature an abundance of greenery and sunlight, intimate booths, along with a full-service bar, cocktail seating, and an open fireplace. The artwork featured in the restaurant will come from the Quicks’ personal collection and has been curated and chosen specifically for this space by Mary Lucille.
“After the warm welcome we received from this community when bringing il Bracco to Post Oak, we are thrilled to introduce another concept to the neighborhood. There is something on this menu for everyone, seafood lovers and meat-eaters alike, whether you are in search of a light sushi or seafood lunch, or a steak dinner,” says Matt Gottlieb, COO.

Quick founded Western Addition Restaurant Group and created and opened il Bracco Park Cities in Dallas in May 2019 and the Post Oak Houston location in Spring 2022. Robert attended the Culinary Institute of America in Napa, worked for Thomas Keller, then managed multiple kitchens with Hillstone Restaurant Group before becoming President and Owner of Mountain Mike’s Pizza.
