This new restaurant is elevating pizza in more ways than one. Located at 9,600’ above sea level in Breckenridge, Colorado, Tin Plate brings Coloradans high-quality artisan pizza, local craft beers, premium spirits, and a good time. It is set to soft open on Saturday, June 19, and will grand open the following Saturday, June 26.

100% sourdough pizza is the main event at Tin Plate. Owner James Harris, General Manager Drisana Litke, and Executive Chef Megan McKeary have collaborated with pizza extraordinaire, Anthony Falco, on the menu development. The pizzas incorporate locally stone-milled heritage wheat flour and a five-year-old sourdough starter. The result is an artisan pizza that brings the perfect balance of a crisp crust and a satisfying chew and acts as the perfect vehicle for unique toppings and flavor combinations. Highlights include the Bolognese Pizza with beef ragu, mozzarella, bechamel, parsley, and lemon; the Pineapple Pizza with pureed roasted pineapple, pickled jalapenos, pancetta, mozzarella, pickled onions, and lime; and the Housemade Sausage Pizza using locally-sourced heritage breed ground pork, roasted peppers, and caramelized onions. Guests can also enjoy starters like Stracciatella with freshly made puccia, and the Arugula Salad with hazelnut and goat cheese. For those looking to end the meal with something sweet, Dynamite Cookies (Tin Plate’s forthcoming in-house cookie shop) will also be available to take on-the-go. Made with sourdough using a starter that was harvested in Breckenridge, Dynamite Cookies offers an assortment of classic flavors like Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, Snickerdoodle, and White Chocolate Macadamia, as well as seasonal varieties. Dynamite Cookies is scheduled to open in the coming weeks.

On the beverage front, Tin Plate will be spotlighting beers from local breweries throughout Summit and Eagle Counties, as well as signature cocktails developed by local favorite Chad Moreau. Options include the Family Business with Mt. Gay rum, tonic, lime, and allspice; a sausage fat-washed Old Fashioned with bourbon, raw sugar syrup, special cherries, orange and cherry bitters; and the Breckenridge Boulevard, a year-round libation with bourbon, Campari, sweet vermouth, and bitters.

Tin Plate is housed within a restored mining cabin that was originally built in 1883; it was the home for the town’s gold assayer and the historic property where Tom’s Baby (Colorado’s largest gold nugget at 13 lbs 7 oz.) was weighed and kept overnight before it’s train transfer to a bank in Denver. To ensure proper restoration, the previous owners and the Tin Plate team worked with local architect Janet Sutterley and Randy Kilgore of Summit Construction Specialties to renovate the 2,900 square foot space while maintaining its integrity and warm ambiance. The building’s original log walls were combined with restored historic wood finishes, and a touch of modern lighting from Inside Source in Frisco was added to bring an updated aesthetic. The restaurant delivers breathtaking views of the mountains and can seat 115 overall, with 71 seats indoors and 44 seats on the outdoor decks and patio. An intimate dining room on the second floor can accommodate private parties of 26 indoors and 14 outdoors.
