Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino has appointed Jannette Berríos as the hotel’s new executive chef. With more than a decade of experience in the hospitality industry, Berríos brings her culinary prowess to guests looking for delectable fusions of Puerto Rican and global fare.
“We’re elated to introduce Jannette’s fresh culinary vision to our guests,” says Randall Ha, general manager. “Her expansive knowledge in luxury fine dining brings a refreshing perspective to our corner of the Caribbean.”
As executive chef at Sheraton Puerto Rico Hotel & Casino, Berríos oversees all culinary programs at the property. She is tasked with creating unique menus at each of the three on-site eateries including Pool Bar & Grille, District Bar, and the signature Choices Restaurant.
“Building off of my zeal for exploring new flavors without losing the importance of local traditional, I am anxious to add an element of surprise to menus across the property to keep guests and locals alike coming back,” Jannette Berríos says.
Hailing from La Concha Renaissance Resort where she spent six years as executive chef, Berríos pulls from a robust culinary history with additional positions held at venues such as The Ritz-Carlton New York, Central Park, The Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta, The Ritz-Carlton, San Juan, and Norwegian Cruise Lines where she worked aboard the Pride of Hawaii, Pride of America, Pride of Aloha, and the Norwegian Wing.
As the first woman to be selected for the Puerto Rico National Culinary Team, Berríos has lined up a variety of accolades celebrating her craft including her acknowledgement as the youngest member ever elected to the San Juan Chapter as a silver medalist at the Chaine des Rotisseus USA finals.
Berríos’ nomadic experiences developed her unique expertise in Puerto Rican flavors with influences from French, Mediterranean and Pacific Rim cuisines. Among the new dishes Berríos will be adding to the property’s repertoire are Mofongo Gnocchi, Pollo “Montadito,” and a Deconstructed Apple Pie A La Mode.
