Scotty’s Brewhouse, the 22-year-old, craft beer sports bar recently expanded its Support Center facility and team as they continue to open new locations nationwide. The company, who was acquired by Due North Holdings in late 2016, runs all day-to-day operations from their 96th Street Support Center located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

“A common misconception when the sale occurred is that an entirely new management team was put in place,” said brand president Chris Martin, a native of Bloomington, Indiana, who has over 35 years of experience in the casual dining restaurant segment. “We have the same support team running day to day operations that we have had all along, we just have a different owner. In fact, we are adding team members to our corporate team in Indianapolis as we continue our nationwide expansion.”

The company recently doubled the size of their offices to accommodate their growing staff adding over 2,000 square feet, including six private offices and an 18-seat conference room. Over the last five years the Scotty’s Support Center Team has grown from 12 employees to over 30.

“We now have positions that didn’t exist in the company five years ago,” continues Martin. “When you have growth goals as ambitious as ours, you have to add new positions to make that happen.”

Many of the Scotty’s Brewhouse Support Team Members have worked at the company for years. Some started as servers, cooks and bartenders on the campuses of Ball State, Purdue and IU and have worked their way up over the years to become Directors at the corporate level.

“We strongly believe in hiring from within for our management and corporate positions,” says Eric Schamp, Chief Operations Officer, who has been with Scotty’s for 22 years. “If you add up the years our support team has worked at this company, you will find more the 200 years of Scotty’s Brewhouse experience.”

Ryan Kellerman, Director of IT, is an example of the homegrown talent on the Scotty’s Brewhouse Support Team. Kellerman started out as a server 13 years ago at the West Lafayette location after attending Purdue University. Over the last 13 years Kellerman has advanced from a server to a General Manager and now to the Direct of IT for the entire company.

“There are so many of us at the Support Center office who have been a part of the Scotty’s Brewhouse growth during our first 22 years,” says Kellerman. “It is exciting to see the plans for the next 5 years and beyond.”

Scotty’s Brewhouse was founded in 1996 when Yorktown, Indiana native Scott Wise opened the first location in the village at Ball State University. Over the next 20 years the concept grew to include 15 Scotty’s Brewhouse locations in Indiana, Florida, Illinois and Ohio as well as two Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Company locations. In late 2016 Wise sold Scotty’s Brewhouse and Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Company to Due North Holdings, another family owned company, with the promise that day to day operations would continue to be based in Indianapolis.

“We have always believed in the company and the people that were running it when we made the acquisition of Scotty’s Brewhouse,” says Berekk Blackwell, Vice President of Due North Holdings. “We saw no reason to make any changes to something that was already successful. Our main goal was to provide the additional resources necessary to allow the current management team to expand the Scotty’s Brewhouse concept nationwide.”

The Scotty’s Brewhouse expansion will include multiple locations opening in 2018, with even more sites in the works over the next few years. Scotty’s will open a new location in Waco, Texas March 5th followed by a Popular Bluff, Missouri location in April. The Poplar Bluff location will be the first of many Missouri locations to open over the next 3 years. Scotty’s also recently finalized a deal with Indiana based, Luke Family Brands to open 10 Scotty’s Brewhouse locations in major Midwest college-town markets over the next 5 years.

“All of this growth is going to mean more jobs, not only in the cities we are opening new locations, but also at our Indianapolis Support Center,” continues Martin. “We are excited about the future and are proud to have our Support Center be part of the Indianapolis community.”
