Regal Springs Tilapia is joining forces with SeaShare to bring healthy seafood to food banks across the country. The company will donate a total of 56,000 servings of nutrient-rich Tilapia to food banks in the U.S, but needs help to meet their goal. Regal Springs Tilapia is all-natural, lake-grown, and responsibly raised, so you can feel even better knowing SeaShare is receiving high quality seafood. All you have to do is follow Regal Springs Tilapia on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram. Throughout the month of June, for every new follower, the company will donate 10 servings of sustainable Tilapia to SeaShare who will then distribute it to food banks and shelters throughout the US. “We are thrilled to work with Regal Springs again,” says Jim Harmon, executive director of SeaShare. “With their continued support, we are able to provide thousands of people with nutrient-rich, high quality fish that they might not have access to otherwise.”
Regal Springs selected SeaShare as a partner based on alignment—both are passionate about making sure everyone has access to nutrient-rich seafood. With so many Americans still struggling with hunger, SeaShare is an important nonprofit organization dedicated to providing seafood to food banks, pantries and shelters across the country.
Those struggling with food insecurity face the burden of not only getting enough to eat, but also getting access to nutritious food that promotes good health. Of the 4 billion pounds of food distributed through the Feeding America network, less than 2 percent is nutrient-rich animal-based protein, and seafood makes up only a tiny fraction of that percentage. Therefore, the health benefits that seafood provides are crucial for those who don’t have the same access to healthy proteins. Omega 3-fatty acids are one of the most important health benefits of seafood—they help with inflammation, cognitive decline, heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and more. Omega-3 levels in Tilapia match that of other popular seafood, including Mahi-Mahi and Yellowfin tuna.
“Despite the incredible resources and opportunities that exist in America, hunger continues to grow,” says Harmon. “Our seafood industry has the resources, the expertise and generosity to make significant contributions to fill the hunger needs of many Americans.”
While Regal Springs has become the largest vertically integrated tilapia producer in the world, the driving philosophy at Regal Springs is not only about producing clean, healthy fish, it’s about genuinely caring for people. Regal Springs Tilapia is high in protein while low in calories, fat and carbohydrates and is also a good source of vitamin B-12, niacin, selenium, phosphorous and magnesium.
