Phillips Foods has launched an exclusive sustainability blog solely dedicated to sharing various global seafood activities. Ed Rhodes, Phillips Foods vice president of sustainability & aquaculture, will host the blog and post updates on The blog reinforces Phillips' passionate commitment to global seafood sustainability. Phillips believes that the seafood industry has a major responsibility to improve their source fisheries to ensure a bountiful supply of safe seafood for operators and their customers for decades to come.

Caroline Tippett, Phillips Foods vice president of marketing & strategic development, views the blog as a real time opportunity to meet the high demand for current sustainability information. “We are glad to bring Phillips’ passionate sustainability commitment to growing on-line audiences of environmentally focused industry leaders, operator customers, consumers, and various non-profit organizations," Tippett says. "The blog is part of the enhanced sustainability site:”.

Phillips partners with such organizations as the Sustainability Fisheries Partnership, NFI Crab Council, NOAA Fisheries, Common Vision, U.S. AID, and others. These organizations believe that the industry should play a key role in improving the fisheries on which they depend with a strong and tangible commitment to sustainable fisheries.

Ed Rhodes has worked in aquaculture and fisheries, both on the research side and in commercial production, for more than 40 years. Much of the research was with NOAA Fisheries, as he was NOAA’s aquaculture coordinator from 1997 to 2001.

Prior to coming to Phillips in 2007, Rhodes was the executive director of the East Coast Shellfish Growers Association. Rhodes chairs the NFI Crab Council, a cooperative effort among leading crab importers that funds fisheries improvement projects in source countries.
