San Antonio-based real estate management firm, LB Development, announced The Sycamore, a new mixed-use lifestyle center coming to Fredericksburg, TX in 2025. The 117-acre development, located on Luckenbach Road along the Highway 290 Wine Trail, will feature shopping, restaurants and more. LB Development has officially broken ground on the project, which will initially feature a central amenity called the Ellipse, retail shops and a new Salt Lick BBQ restaurant, the widely popular and beloved Texas barbecue spot.
The Sycamore has been designed around the core principles of culture and community, with the intent to highlight the things that make Texas a wonderfully unique destination. Through food and beverage, carefully curated shops and more, the development will create an environment that feels distinctly Texan. Official retailers and additional restaurants will be announced at a later date, but guests can expect to find signature items like hats, boots, clothing, jewelry and more, as well as a wide cuisine range of food and beverage offerings that are both refreshing and fitting for Texas Wine Country.
“This is a special site and a legacy project for us,” says LB Development Managing Director Geoff Bley. We set a high standard to deliver a project that both complements the market and more importantly, the community. We have worked with the county, city and our neighbors to deliver exactly that.”
Beloved central Texas restaurant, The Salt Lick BBQ, will be expanding to Fredericksburg as the first announced tenant at The Sycamore. Guests frequenting the popular tourist destination will be able to get a taste of the famous barbecue. The 9,000 square foot restaurant and patio space will feature its classic menu items that guests have come to love at its flagship location. The Sycamore will also feature Salt Lick Cellars, a tasting room and shop for The Salt Lick’s brand of wines and more.
“We could not think of a better place to plant our roots than in Fredericksburg,” says The Salt Lick owner and pitmaster Scott Roberts. “We have found the perfect partner in The Sycamore, and can’t wait to see the whole project come to fruition. We are committed to bringing the same top-notch food and service to the development and hope to add some flair and excitement with the addition of The Salt Lick BBQ, Salt Lick Cellars, and a brand new soon-to-be-announced concept that we’re very excited about. It’s something we have had in the works for quite some time.”
The Sycamore development will be built around the Ellipse, a central amenity the length of a football field, that will connect shops and restaurants located at the development. The area is a promenade featuring landscaped walkways, creek beds, a bandstand and shaded canopies. It will be programmed throughout the year to showcase celebrations, holidays, local and regional gatherings and events.
The Sycamore has been designed to incorporate numerous sustainable features and class leading design components, including low impact design, rainwater harvesting, bioswales, pervious pavement, downlighting and more.
