Quaker Steak & Lube announced that the official grand opening of its newest restaurant, located at 561 US Route 1 & Plainfield Ave., in Edison, New Jersey, will take place on Wednesday, April 30, at 3 p.m.
In advance of opening day, The Lube will give local aficionados a sneak peak of its deep-fried gold by giving away free wings to the general public on a first come, first served basis, on Wednesday, April 23, from noon to 2 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. In lieu of payment, guests are encouraged to make a suggested donation of $5 per person to James Monroe Elementary School Recovery Fund, to benefit the rebuilding of James Monroe Elementary in Edison that was destroyed by a fire in March.
"We are excited to open our new Edison Lube location," says Ed Choe, president of the New Jersey-based franchise group, Lube It Up, LLC. "We believe that The Lube will be a hit in Edison."
The newly built Edison Lube will encompass a 7,535 square-foot design while accommodating seating for more than 350 people. The location also has a 2,500-square-foot brickyard outdoor patio, which will be heated for outdoor seating yearround, along with an indoor and outdoor bar. More than 50 HD flat-screen televisions will show sports events and games throughout the restaurant.
Sports and automotive memorabilia highlights of the new Edison Lube include three Harley Davidson motorcycles on display. Donated by Liberty Harley Davidson in Rahway, the bikes include a 1960 Harley Davidson Panhead with custom high handlebars, a 1945 WLA military-issued motorcycle, and a custom chopper that will be suspended from the ceiling, spinning, upside down. Other items include an upside down Coors Light NASCAR and 1978 Corvette Stingray and a Custom Junior Dragster belonging to Joseph Cirillo, the local racer and reigning Englishtown two-time champion.
The Edison Lube will hold supercharged events all week including All-You-Can-Eat-Wings on Tuesday, Breaded Boneless Wednesdays, Thursday Bike Nites, early and late-night Happy Hour, and Sunday Car Cruise-ins.
