The International Franchise Association (IFA) has honored Peter McCormick and his partner Alex Zega, the first domestic franchisees and multi-unit operators of Five Iron Golf, with its prestigious Franchisee of the Year award. This recognition, presented at the 65th IFA Annual Convention in Las Vegas, celebrates the nation’s top-performing franchisees who exemplify leadership, innovation, and commitment to their communities.

McCormick and Zega, Louisville-based entrepreneurs, have demonstrated an exceptional ability to identify and capitalize on emerging market opportunities. With a background in general contracting, McCormick successfully built a thriving business before expanding into real estate development. His strategic mindset and investment acumen ultimately led him to Five Iron Golf, where he and Zega saw an opportunity to introduce the unique sports meet eatertainment concept that blends high-tech golf simulators, and premium food and beverage offerings to new markets.

“This recognition is truly an honor,” said McCormick, who opened his first location with the brand last year. “Since joining the brand, it’s been amazing to play a part in driving its growth as it becomes a true nationwide sensation. Accepting this honor as Franchisee of the Year is truly humbling and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Five Iron as I have desires to continue growing alongside the brand into new and existing markets.”

Since opening their Louisville location just eight months ago, McCormick and Zega have set their sights on rapid expansion. In addition to strengthening Five Iron Golf’s presence in Louisville, they are actively planning new locations across the Southeast. Their recent commitment to opening 12 new locations in Florida, including ambitious plans for Miami, underscores their forward-thinking approach to franchise development.

“Franchisees of the Year represent the very best of franchising,” said Matt Haller, President and CEO of the International Franchise Association. “They embody the American Dream, create economic opportunity, serve their communities and show what it means to go into business for yourself, but not by yourself. We are proud to recognize these entrepreneurs with the highest honor IFA awards to individual franchisees, and we salute them for the tireless efforts to lift up all those they serve.”

The IFA’s Franchisee of the Year awards celebrates franchise owners from IFA member brands who make outstanding contributions to their businesses and communities. Honorees are nominated by their parent companies for their leadership in fostering workforce development, supporting fellow franchisees, and driving economic growth. McCormick’s recognition as a Franchisee of the Year highlights his exceptional contributions to Five Iron Golf’s growth and the broader franchise industry. As he continues to expand, his impact on the “eatertainment” sector and local economies will only grow stronger.
