Always in front of tabletop trends, the Homer Laughlin China Company, has introduced the arrival of its new Fiesta color—Butterscotch. Named for the way its orangey-yellow hue resembles the famous confection, Butterscotch is a vibrant shade sure to inspire bold plating and tasteful recipes. Pushing against classic white dinnerware and other minimalist color palettes, Butterscotch brings color back and in a big way, allowing restaurateurs to explore bolder accent colors and more dramatic tablescapes.

Butterscotch is the 52nd shade of Fiesta introduced by the Homer Laughlin China Company since the colorful and iconic made-in-America dinnerware debuted in 1936. As has become a custom, the announcement came at The Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market, held January 13 through the 21 of this year.

“Butterscotch is a vibrant, cheerful addition to the 2020 Fiesta color spectrum,” says Rich Brinkman, vice president of sales and marketing at Homer Laughlin. “It’s a warm and inviting, nostalgic color that complements so many of the existing Fiesta colors.”

Fiesta tablescapes have leaped to foodservice after decades as the prize of America’s at-home tabletop. Colorful and complementary, the Fiesta collection is successful either as accent to an existing interior color palette, to complement signature dishes, or, when several Fiesta colors are mixed-and-matched, to form a menagerie of color never the same from table to table.

The company did not announce any retiring colors in 2020, meaning there are 15 signature Fiesta colors, including: Ivory, Slate, Scarlet, Poppy, Butterscotch, Daffodil, Sunflower, Lemongrass, Shamrock, Meadow, Turquoise, Lapis, Cobalt, Mulberry, and White.

Butterscotch will be available for sale in later summer, including a variety of plates, platters, bowls, mugs, the signature disk pitcher, and serving pieces. The full line of Fiesta can be found on the company’s website at
