El Naranjo, Austin’s celebrated authentic Mexican restaurant helmed by 2022 James Beard Award-winning Chef Iliana de la Vega and her partner Ernesto Torrealba, introduce January specials featuring Dry Pichón, ablood orange and grapefruit forward mocktail for those beginning the New Year with a Dry, or dryish, January.
Plus, El Naranjo will continue their successful Happy Hour menu, perfect for celebrating the New Year with a toast and an authentic Mexican bite. They will also offer a special individual-sized Rosca de Reyes (Three Kings Cake) at select brunch services to celebrate Three Kings Day.
Continuing this month, El Naranjo’s weekday Happy Hour will run Tuesday through Friday from 5-6:30 p.m., offering guests $5 off appetizers, 25% off signature cocktails, and 20% off wine and beer by the glass. The restaurant will have rotating happy hour specials, and this month’s happy hour dish features small bite sopes with chorizo, chicharrón with salsa verde, chilorio, queso, crema and salsa.
“I’m thrilled to extend El Naranjo’s successful Happy Hour into the New Year; it’s been heartwarming to witness people unwind at the bar, savoring a cocktail and a small bite, creating moments of joy and connection” says Chef Iliana de la Vega.
Three Kings Day
This year to celebrate Dia de Reyes and Three Kings Day from January 5-6, 2024, El Naranjo will offer individual sized Rosca de Reyes (Three Kings Cake) at select brunches. These sweet breads are formed into a ring and flavored with orange blossom, decorated with dried apricots, figs, candied oranges, pecans, and sugar. The cake also has a plastic baby Jesus hidden inside. Traditionally, whoever finds the figurine must take it to church on February 2, Día de la Candelaria or Candlemas Day, and invite people to join them in celebration.
