The Chastain is a New American neighborhood restaurant from Executive Chef Christopher Grossman opening this summer at 4320 Powers Ferry Road Northwest in Atlanta. The restaurant will open in the location that currently houses Horseradish Grill, which will close on February 15 for renovations.

Symbolizing the nourishing, versatile food The Chastain will offer to its neighborhood, the restaurant’s mark is a chestnut leaf – a tribute to the nutritious and abundant nut. The symbol further links the restaurant to nature and the adjacent park, and embodies the sophisticated space and warm atmosphere that will welcome guests for everyday dining for years to come.

As Executive Chef and co-owner, Chef Grossman will draw inspiration from the best local ingredients and seasonal harvest to create dishes ranging from classic favorites to inventive new takes. Prior to his most recent chef position at Atlas, Grossman worked under Thomas Keller at world-renowned Napa Valley restaurant The French Laundry and served as chef de cuisine under Gerry Klaskala at Aria in Atlanta. Everything at The Chastain will be made from scratch and prepared to showcase Grossman’s decades of experience in some of the nation’s top kitchens. He is creating the menu around a variety of craveable dishes as a “choose-your-own-adventure” to be enjoyed in a comfortable setting.

Grossman’s partner and co-owner Geno Dew, who most recently served as General Manager of Atlas, will be General Manager of The Chastain and help oversee the restaurant’s wine program. “We’re honored to be stewards of the next chapter of such an iconic Atlanta restaurant location,” said Dew. “Our team is building this restaurant for the neighborhood, and we look forward to preserving its warmth and character while offering an exceptional new culinary experience.”

Set inside a former roadside country store, The Chastain will honor the history of the building while opening up the 2,500-square-foot main floor space for a brighter atmosphere that brings the outdoors in. Local firm Siegel Construction & Design is leading the project, which will keep the timeless feel of the restaurant and feature large iron windows that connect the inside with multiple patios and the garden. With the removal of an interior wall, there will be room for an inviting, u-shaped neighborhood bar surrounded by cafe tables. The lower level will be a nostalgic space ideal for special events like wine dinners and private parties.

A lush garden on the property will be a focal point, with iron-rimmed glass windows and doors opening directly onto the verdant landscape. A stone patio surrounded by lush foliage will offer a charming outdoor dining option. Chef Grossman plans to source some ingredients from the on-site garden for The Chastain’s menu.

The restaurant is set on the edge of Atlanta’s Chastain Park, steps away from the park’s horse park and amphitheater. Initially, The Chastain will be open for full-service dinner throughout the restaurant. A more casual counter-service breakfast will be offered daily from the bar, ideal for neighbors en route to the office or walking around the park to drop in for a breakfast sandwich and coffee-to-go. Later, The Chastain will also serve a la carte weekday lunch and weekend brunch.
