Charlotte native and award-winning mixologist Bob Peters has been named the beverage director of Built On Hospitality. Peters joins the Charlotte-based hospitality group known for The Goodyear House and Old Town Kitchen & Cocktails after spending five years as a consultant in the beverage industry. 

Prior to his consulting career, Peters oversaw the beverage programs for The Punch Room and the Ritz Carlton of Charlotte, where he won numerous awards including the 2015 Global Bartender of the Year for The Ritz-Carlton Corporation. Peters has also been a featured mixologist at the James Beard House in New York City, Charleston Wine & Food, Atlanta Food & Wine Festival and the Cayman Cookout hosted by Eric Ripert, José Andrés, and Anthony Bourdain. Highly respected in the industry, Peters is known for his innovative palate and ability to entertain anyone who is seated at his bar. His cocktails are clean, simple and elegant with few ingredients so guests can taste each specific flavor. 

“My inspiration as a chef has always been to showcase simple ingredients with complex flavors, and Bob’s approach to cocktails mirrors that philosophy, making him the perfect addition to the Built On Hospitality team,” says Chris Coleman, chef and partner of Built On Hospitality. “We are confident his level of high-touch hospitality along with his vision for a high-caliber beverage program will continue to elevate the experience our guests have at our restaurants.” 

Peters has already made a splash in his new role as beverage director with the overhaul of the signature cocktail list at both Built On Hospitality concepts, The Goodyear House and Old Town Kitchen & Cocktails. The cocktail menus will be seasonal, emphasizing fresh ingredients and local spirits. 

Peters adds, “This really is a dream job for me. Chris and the team at Built On Hospitality have big dreams, and it’s an honor to stand alongside them and play a role in the way they are transforming our community through the art of entertaining. This is only just the beginning for us.” 

Throughout his career, Peters has earned many prestigious awards including the North Caroline Bartender of the Year, Global Mixologist of the Year for the Ritz Carlton and Charlotte Magazine’s BOB Award for Best Mixologist, among many other accolades won on behalf of The Punch Room and the Ritz Carlton. 

The new seasonal cocktail menus created by Peters are available now at The Goodyear House in Charlotte’s NoDa neighborhood and Old Town Kitchen & Cocktails in nearby Rock Hill, South Carolina.
