Internationally lauded and fast-expanding burger and shake joint, Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer, owned by husband and wife team Chris Barish and Julie Mulligan, names industry expert John Brisco as President of International Franchise Development.

John joins the Black Tap family with over 30 years of international and domestic development expertise, holding executive positions at a myriad of established, beloved brands. He spent seven years at Tony Roma’s where he ultimately served as President and CEO, collectively eleven years at Ruby Tuesday’s where he expanded its franchise base to 38 countries within five years, successfully led Sbarro’s international development opening approximately 100 new stores per year, served as VP of International Development at TGI Fridays across 75 countries, and most recently sourced franchisees and finalized agreements worldwide as VP of International Franchising for Twin Peaks.

“As we look to the future of Black Tap and its continued international expansion, I cannot imagine a better leader to pilot our journey than John Brisco,” says Owner Chris Barish. “The response to our existing locations across the world, from Singapore to Dubai, has been overwhelmingly positive, and as we expand our footprint even further, we’re excited to have John’s vision, invaluable experience and impact to help us continue to grow.”

“As a longtime fan, I’m thrilled to join Black Tap at this exciting venture as we look to develop new territories and introduce the brand and its delicious burgers and shakes to more hungry guests worldwide,” says Brisco. “We anticipate rapid international franchise growth worldwide over the next three to four years, with current development ongoing in Asia, Latin America and Western Europe.”

Starting as a 15-seat counter bar in New York’s Soho neighborhood, Black Tap now brings its downtown vibe to the global kitchen with multiple locations in NYC, the Vegas strip, Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort, Bahrain, Singapore, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, with four new locations opening in Nashville, Miami, Dallas and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia by 2023.
