The extremely popular Hoover restaurant staple, Big Whiskey’s American Restaurant & Bar, has announced plans to open a second location in Hoover. The first Big Whiskey’s location in Hoover opened in July of 2020 to record setting sales amid social distancing restrictions, requiring the restaurant to operate at half capacity for several months. In the last few years, the brand has become incredibly popular with guests for signature items like Buffalo Chicken Wontons, the Blackberry Bourbon Sidecar, Beer Cheese Pretzels and more.
The second Hoover Big Whiskey’s will be located in the new Tattersall Park development, situated next to Publix. The restaurant will be the brand’s second prototype build, both in Hoover. The prototype build, a freestanding 6,000 square foot restaurant, features plenty of patio space, which is semi-open to the sizable bar, a private dining space and a large dining room separate from the bar.
The ownership group responsible for bringing the popular American restaurant and bar concept to Alabama says of the announcement, “We saw the way our community immediately embraced the brand, the food and the Big Whiskey’s experience and couldn’t wait to get going on a second location. We’re thrilled to bring another great dining experience to our guests.”
Corporate leadership is just as enthusiastic to see construction of the new Hoover location get underway. “We’ve been really impressed by the ownership group in Alabama who pushed through the uncertainty of the last few years to make this deal happen. The Birmingham area loves Big Whiskey’s, that’s been proven by the continued record breaking sales, and we are eager to really plant our flag in the Birmingham area,” Austin Herschend, president of Franchising for Big Whiskey’s, says.
The new restaurant will employ around 80 staff members and will feature some updated details from the first Hoover location. Those specifics will be released as construction details are finalized.
