A distinctive new dining destination is headed to Downtown Fort Worth this Fall/Winter. Beverly’s Downtown, a vibrant, ingredient-driven concept inspired by the diverse flavors of Mexico, is set to open in the basement of the historic Hogan Building at 901 Houston St, Fort Worth, TX 76102.
The restaurant is the latest creation from Jeff Payne and Jason Cross—owners of Cousin’s BBQ and the highly anticipated New American restaurant, The Mont —in partnership with Jeff Morgan and Steve Maddux, owners of the historic Hogan Building, where Beverly’s will be located. The team brings a shared passion for hospitality, design, and culinary creativity to a project that aims to continue to elevate the city’s dining scene. Beverly’s will join the city’s growing list of upscale, culturally rich dining options—but it aims to stand apart. “We’re not trying to replicate the traditional Mexican restaurant experience,” said Jeff Payne, co-owner of Beverly‘s Downtown. “Instead, we’re moving the needle forward while respecting the roots of the cuisine—creating something unique, sexy, familiar, and entirely new.” Beverly’s will serve as a practical, sophisticated option for lunch meetings or elevated mid-day bites, while also being a destination for after-hours dining, cocktails, and conversation. Its presence will add to Downtown Fort Worth’s appeal as a culinary hub, both for locals and visitors alike.
Beverly’s will offer lunch and dinner service, designed to suit both the weekday lunch crowd and the evening dinner guest seeking a refined yet welcoming experience. The concept explores the full geographical and cultural spectrum of Mexican cuisine—from the rich meats and earthy spices of the North to the vibrant, coastal influences of the Gulf and Caribbean. Each dish will strike a balance between recognizable tradition and inventive execution. For example, guests will enjoy a modern take on “bread service,” swapping rolls for heirloom flour and corn blend tortillas served with cultured butter mixed with pickled onion.
Designed by Fort Worth interior design firm, Maven, the 7,000-square-foot space is an underground hideaway with an atmospheric, almost speakeasy allure. Rustic textures, moody lighting, and curved architectural accents evoke an intimate, inviting escape. Reflective materials add warmth and depth, creating a dining room that embraces its subterranean character.
Originally built in 1900 and redesigned in Art Deco style in 1937, the Hogan Building has been thoughtfully restored to its historic roots with modern touches. Ideally located near Sundance Square, it stands in the center of Fort Worth’s pedestrian-friendly core, blending old-world elegance with urban vibrancy—a perfect setting for Beverly’s to thrive.
Beverly’s Downtown will open in Fall/Winter 2025 for lunch and dinner service.
