Occidental Grill & Seafood, a Washington, D.C., dining staple celebrating its 110th year on Pennsylvania Avenue, will receive the 2016 Honorary Milestone RAMMY Award from Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW). Honoring longstanding local restaurants and RAMW members who have been in business for at least 50 years, the honorary milestone award is bestowed onto only the Washington, D.C., region’s most prestigious dining institutions and will be formally dedicated at the 2016 RAMMY Awards Gala on Sunday, June 12 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.

Open since 1906, Occidental Grill & Seafood has proven its longstanding commitment to excellence over the last 110 years, and welcomed in the most notable statesmen and celebrities in the country. Portraits of Occidental’s famous visitors, including Helen Keller, Jackie Robinson, and Will Rogers and a healthy number of presidents, cover the restaurant’s walls to remind modern diners of the restaurant’s past patrons and history as one of Washington, D.C.’s, iconic watering holes.

Occidental Grill & Seafood has remained a pillar in the Washington, D.C., community by not only providing outstanding dining, but also by prioritizing unparalleled service. United States Air Force Major General Tim Byers, since retired, remarked on Occidental’s commitment to exceeding expectations for its patrons.

“Occidental Grill & Seafood has proven to be a friend not only to the community but to the military as well,” says Major General Byers. “The welcoming, giving staff was integral to providing a memorable experience for our group and we greatly appreciate the support and friendships we have developed over the years.”

Occidental Grill & Seafood is one of numerous restaurants recognized annually at the RAMMY Awards, an anticipated awards ceremony hosted by Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington every summer in Washington, D.C. It was first awarded in 2008 to Ben’s Chili Bowl and other past honorees include Billy Martin’s Tavern, The Monocle on Capitol Hill, Tune Inn, and Clyde’s of Georgetown. All RAMMYS finalists and honorees will receive their formal awards during the RAMMY Awards on June 12.
