More than two years after Westfield welcomed Elm Street’s Amuse restaurant, the cherished French bistro has closed its doors last week to make way for a new restaurant concept from its award-winning head chef and restaurateur C.J. Reycraft, Jr.

The new dining concept from Reycraft will be announced in coming weeks, and will look to open in Amuse’s current location sometime in August.

But patrons of the current restaurant should not fret. Amuse will only be closed for a short period of time, as Reycraft is currently scoping out a new location to re-open the popular brasserie in the state.

The decision to no longer operate Amuse in Westfield, and to instead introduce a new restaurant concept for the town, was largely based around the difficulty and high cost of procuring a liquor license.

The new restaurant, which will open in Amuse’s soon-to-be old location at 39 Elm Street, will better accommodate this concern.

“We are really excited about our new concept that will soon be coming into Amuse’s former space and equally excited to soon find a new location for Amuse that has a liquor license,” says Reycraft. “Our customers have been amazing and we know they will embrace our newest restaurant concept.”

“As always, we will be dedicated to the highest quality of ingredients and finest service to which our customers have become accustomed.”

Reycraft was recently honored with a prestigious international culinary distinction as one of only three American chefs to be named a Leading Chef of the Future by the International Academy of Gastronomy.
