The Common Man restaurant, one of FSR’s Top 100 Independents in 2015, will close for the 2016 summer and fall seasons. At this time, the plan is to re-open for one more winter season in December 2016.
The chef owned and operated restaurant has been under the management of owners Lorien Wroten and Adam Longworth for the past five years. The partners have decided to close for the summer season in order to find time to explore future professional opportunities. The building and business continue to be available for sale.
In a statement recently sent to regular diners the pair says, “This Winter more than ever we have felt the impact of your support and enthusiasm. There are no words to express the gratitude we have for each of you and for our wonderful team. Thank you so much for your appreciation and excitement for the very special type of dining experience that we work so hard to provide. While we stand by our choice and are excited about our future, the obvious and regrettable consequence will be missing the opportunity to have you dine with us this summer and fall.”
The restaurant will continue to serve dinner Thursday to Saturday through March 27, with a holiday buffet on Easter Sunday and a special send-off service on April 2.
Originally opened in the 1960s, The Common Man is in its fourth generation of operation. It resides in 19th century barn where the dining room features hand-hewn beams and an open-hearth fireplace. The current restaurant opened in December 2011.
