When STACKED: Food Well Built opened its first location in 2011, the restaurant concept generated buzz for letting guests customize their entire meal by choosing from dozens of high-quality and flavorful ingredients, toppings and sauces to build their burgers, sandwiches, salads, pizzas, Mac ‘n’ Cheese, shakes, desserts and cocktails, and more. The magic behind the ingenious ordering system comes from a proprietary tabletop iPad-based ordering system that allows guests to quickly and easily build their meals exactly how they want. The technology also benefits guests with dietary preferences, who want to build meals that fit their lifestyles and diets, such as vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free.

Now, STACKED introduces another industry innovation: the ability to view calorie counts for each ingredient, giving guests the freedom to choose just how indulgent or healthy they want their meal to be. The new calorie counter displays exact calorie counts—not ranges that are typically found on traditional paper or digital menus. As guests add ingredients to their entrée, counts will rise, and if they remove an ingredient, the count will decrease. However, while some guests appreciate the opportunity to count their calories, some don’t. That’s why the calorie counter is optional at the discretion of the guest.

“In essence, we’ve turned the kitchen at STACKED into one that you would have in your own home, with just the right ingredients to make the meals you want most, except ours is filled with hundreds of high-quality, flavorful ingredients that can create literally millions of different menu items,” says Paul Motenko, co-founder, STACKED Restaurants LLC. “Now, we’re redefining the dining experience again, by giving our guests the ability to build their meals based on calorie counts if they choose. But, no worries—for those who do not want to count calories, you can still indulge in a carefree way by simply not electing to display the calorie counts.”

The new calorie counter option came just in time for the opening of STACKED’s fifth location that opened in Huntington Beach in January. The Huntington Beach restaurant also debuted a STACKable breakfast menu featuring the best of America’s favorite breakfast foods and beverages.
