Global restaurant franchisor Johnny Rockets announces the opening of its second restaurant in Honduras, located on Boulevard Morazan in San Pedro Sula.

Increasing the chain’s Central American footprint, the second restaurant in Honduras is operated by franchise owner Maria Eugenia Handal Canahuati of Desarrollos Gastronomicos Internacionales Corporation. Handal Canahuati now operates three Johnny Rockets restaurants, including Honduras’ first Johnny Rockets, located in capital city Tegucigalpa, and one additional restaurant in Costa Rica.

“Central America continues to be a focus for growth and development as Johnny Rockets continues its global expansion in Latin America and throughout the world," says Scott Chorna, senior vice president of international development.

"With this second location in Honduras and similar success in Costa Rica, we are well-positioned to support Johnny Rockets growth in other Central American countries, including Guatemala, Panama, and more. Desarrollos Gastronomicos continues to be an important partner as we grow in this region and we look forward to supporting Maria and her team while we continue to grow in Honduras and Costa Rica.”

Located in the heart of San Pedro Sula on Boulevard Morazan, Johnny Rockets’ street front location adds unmatched value to one of the oldest boulevards in the city. Close to dining, nightlife, hotels, and entertainment venues, the brand is ideal for San Pedro Sula’s one million residents and business and leisure travelers.

With nearly 100 employees and more than 3,000 square feet, the San Pedro Sula restaurant boasts the iconic brand’s modern Americana menu.

Since opening the first Johnny Rockets in the largest shopping center in the nation’s capital, City Mall Tegucigalpa, in August of 2013, Honduras residents have expressed keen interest in the Johnny Rockets experience that is reminiscent of modern Americana. The company optimistically hopes to build on that interest and the momentum of this second opening to expand its footprint to other cities throughout the country, as well as throughout Latin America.

Johnny Rockets’ franchise partners currently operate more than 100 restaurants outside the U.S. today, with plans to double that number by 2017 as part of its global strategy.
