Hickory Tavern, an acclaimed casual dining restaurant with a sports passion, is opening its fifth South Carolina location at 4 p.m. on March 16. This one will be in the Lowcountry at 44 Shelter Cove Lane on Hilton Head Island.

The Hilton Head restaurant expands the brand’s footprint in the state. Hickory Tavern also has locations in Columbia, Spartanburg, Indian Land, and Rock Hill. A Myrtle Beach location is slated to open this fall.

Since opening the first restaurant in Charlotte almost 20 years ago, Hickory Tavern has become the neighborhood restaurant destination for the entire family. Perhaps best known for being named runner up in ESPN’s Best Sports Bar in North America, Hickory Tavern’s unique brand of polished casual features a lively bar atmosphere, upscale menu and around 70 TVs that come in handy, especially this time of the year as the NCAA college basketball tournaments and March Madness swing into full gear.

“All of our locations are well known for being the ‘local go-to’ for dining and socializing so we are thrilled to be opening during one of the most exciting sports times of the year,” says Tavern CMO Thom Perez. “We can’t wait to take care of all the locals and be a treat for the tourists. With so many locations all over the Carolinas, Hickory Tavern is well known to many of the people who visit Hilton Head.”

While known for its sports passion, Hickory Tavern is very different from a traditional sports bar highlighted by it extensive and diverse menu. In addition to wings, burgers and signature sandwiches, guests will find Seared Ahi Tuna, Oysters, Lobster Roll, Shrimp & Grits, Crab Legs, Steamed Shrimp, and three steak options on the menu. Hickory Tavern is also noted for its kids menu with 10 entrées and 10 sides options as well as the B.Y.O. Salad, a build-your own salad by choosing the type of leaf base, vegetables, fruit, cheese, crunches, and proteins.

The 7,0000-square-foot restaurant features a separate restaurant and bar area as well as two patios with seating available for approximately 90 guests. Hickory Tavern offers 100 beers with 32 on tap and will carry six to 10 local craft beers at any one time. Happy Hour is available weekdays from 4 to 7 pm.

Hickory Tavern Hilton Head will be open from 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
