The burgushi has landed. The nation’s original “sushi burger bar” will bring its revolutionary, so-crazy-it-works concept to Atlanta’s Perimeter Mall on Thursday, April 28.

The Cowfish, founded by Marcus Hall and Alan Springate, was established in Charlotte, North Carolina, and features a menu that includes innovative sushi rolls, craft burgers, and burgushi—a cutting-edge fusion of burger and sushi. Burgushi items include sushi rolls with burger components and pick-up style sandwiches with sushi.

Among signature menu items are The Cowfish Bento Box (a combo meal including a gourmet mini-burger, sweet potato fries, Thai cucumbers, edamame, and a four-piece sushi roll), “The Prime Time” Filet & Lobster Burgushi Roll (lobster and cucumbers inside topped with seared-rare filet mignon, pan-fried portabella mushroom slices tossed in truffle oil, green onions, and spicy mayo) and The Texas Longhorn (a beef burger with Cheddar, onion strings, jalapeño bacon, tangy barbecue sauce, lettuce, and tomato on a brioche bun). Family-style appetizers, hand-crafted milkshakes, craft beers, entrée-sized salads, and homemade desserts are also on the extensive menu.

"Atlanta is a cosmopolitan city with a progressive restaurant scene. It’s got the vibrancy and creative spirit of New York or L.A., but maintains its distinct Southern charm," says Springate. “We’re excited to be part of the community and to introduce Atlanta to The Cowfish.”

Hall adds, “We’ve had a number of guests from Atlanta come to our North Carolina restaurants over the years and ask us when we planned to open in their city. Atlanta’s been on our wish list for a long time, and we think a number of Atlantans have had a craving for The Cowfish, too. This is a win for all of us.”

John Myers is the general manager of the new 8,000-square-foot Cowfish. He previously worked in Raleigh and Charlotte for The Cowfish.

The Cowfish Atlanta offers the same innovative menu and atmosphere that has led to a loyal fan base in North Carolina and more recently, in Orlando. The Cowfish offers an extensive signature burger menu where all of the burger patties are a half-pound, Certified Angus Beef. The Cowfish also offers traditional sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and entrée-sized fusion rolls.
