Hershey Foodservice is taking its commitment to sustainability through responsible packaging to the next level with the new HERSHEY’S Chocolate Syrup pouch. The BPA-free pouch weighs 85 percent less than the #10 can and takes up less room in the back of house. The new packaging means a smarter choice for operators that’s better for the environment, saves in transportation costs and requires less labor.

Studies show that consumers consider sustainable, eco-friendly practices important in foodservice. By converting to the new pouch, Hershey Foodservice has cut the total amount of packaging materials nearly in half, has decreased the package weight by 85 percent and is projected to reduce landfill waste by 27 percent. In addition, the process to manufacture the pouches generates 92 percent fewer greenhouse gasses (GHGs) than it takes to make the #10 can, making it a better solution for operators, customers and the planet.

The smarter HERSHEY’S Chocolate Syrup pouch is easy to use. There are no heavy cans with sharp edges, and no can opener or spatula is needed. Just snip and pour, or use the branded pump. Ninety-eight percent of the syrup squeezes out easily. Operators can save 6 percent per fluid ounce of the cost of HERSHEY’S syrup by converting from #10 cans to pouches.

HERSHEY’S Chocolate Syrup is available in a variety of packages to meet operational needs. These include a convenient 24-ounce squeeze bottle, the new pouch and a resealable jug. The branded pump is easy to use with the pouch for front-of-house or portion control in the back of house. Operators can choose the best packages to meet their needs.
