New gins are hitting the market seemingly every day.

GIN: The Art and Craft of the Artisan Revival in 300 Distillations by New York blogger and gin specialist Aaron Knoll, is the book that will help make sense of the rapid expansion, and contextualize it within gin’s illustrious history from the Renaissance apothecaries of Europe, to the streets of London, to the small local distilleries and cocktail bars of the United States, Canada and beyond.

GIN: The Art and Craft of the Artisan Revival in 300 Distillations features sections on the history, appreciation, tasting, and drinking of gin.

In “The Appreciation of Gin,” Knoll has a Making Gin section that explains the importance of botanicals as ingredients, from the key classics of juniper and coriander to innovative new artisan recipes in which distillers are pushing the boundaries of flavor with inventive adjuncts in their quest to make the perfect spirit.

“The Tasting of Gin,” features fascinating profiles on key craft distilleries and includes notes on 300 of the world’s best gins with an entire section devoted to the Gins in the Americas.

In “The Drinking of Gin,” there is more than 50 great gin cocktail recipes featuring everything from classic recipes to contemporary, and aged gin to flavored gins.

Recipes like the Singapore Sling and French 75 will take readers back to the days before and during Prohibition, and contemporary drinks like the Aviator and Last Ward explore gin in ways far from a Martini or Negroni.

Included in GIN: The Art and Craft of the Artisan Revival in 300 Distillations are features, profiles and listings of some of the best places in the US for gin, including a directory of the 100 best bars in the U.S. to drink gin.

GIN: The Art and Craft of the Artisan Revival in 300 Distillations is the first book to take a closer look at the emerging new categories of gin and place it within context alongside the old guard. So whether the reader enjoys a martini or a G&T, a sloe gin fizz or a Pegu Club, GIN: The Art and Craft of the Artisan Revival in 300 Distillations is the book that should sit on the bar at the ready.
