Iconic French restaurant Pastis will open its second location in Miami on Sunday. The flagship store, located in Manhattan’s Meatpacking District, opened more than 20 years ago and has been frequented by celebrities like Anna Wintour and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Keith McNally and Stephen Starr, the James Beard Award-winning restaurant innovators behind STARR Restaurants Group, acquired the New York Pastis location in 2019. The duo revitalized Pastis after the restaurant’s original location closed down in 2014.
Pastis Miami will offer similar dishes to the original location including steak frites and escargots, but will also debut new additions to the menu such as Barbugin, a fried ravioli with olive-based dough filled with ricotta, swiss chard and artichoke, and Baked Cannelloni filled with ricotta, spinach, ham, and parmesan.
The second Pastis location in Miami will seat 179 guests inside, plus 114 in the outdoor area.
The drink menu features an extensive wine list with more than 300 options from the major French wine regions. Some of the New York location classics—like the Mojito with pastis and mint cordial and the Margarita with orange marmalade—will be on the cocktail menu, as well as new cocktails with Mediterranean influences.
The new 8,000-square-foot restaurant, located in the Wynwood neighborhood of Miami, will also include an exclusive outdoor garden and courtyard where guests can enjoy a meal outside surrounded by an enclosed pergola, adorned in black locust. This design element was inspired by McNally’s home in Martha’s Vineyard. Pastis will seat 179 guests inside, plus 114 in the outdoor area.
The interior of Pastis Miami will include design elements harkening back to its original location, such as a curved zinc bar, white subway tiles, and red banquettes. The space will also have hand-painted mirrors that were crafted by Robert Padilla, the designer who created the original mirrors in the New York location.
Throughout the last couple of years, Starr witnessed the culinary scene grow in Wynwood. He opened his first restaurant in South Florida in 2009, and sees Miami as the perfect location to grow the Pastis brand.
Pastis Miami is located at 380 NW 26th Street in Wynwood, and will be open daily for lunch and dinner on the weekdays, with brunch service on the weekends, beginning April 30.
