Lapeer Steak & Seafood, a restaurant and bar serving fresh seafood, housemade pasta, steaks and more, announced its upcoming opening in Birmingham, Alabama at the city’s new mixed-use community hub, The Hardwick. The team behind Lapeer Steak & Seafood is headed by Owner Louis Soon and Culinary Director Andy Long of Maven Restaurant Group, which includes beloved Alpharetta eateries South Main Kitchen, Butcher & Brew and the original Lapeer Steak & Seafood. The new Birmingham restaurant, set to open this summer, will be the group’s first concept outside of Georgia. 

Committed to offering dining with class, quality, good service and style, Lapeer Steak & Seafood Birmingham will feature a chef-driven menu of steakhouse classics and fresh seafood. Dishes will include the likes of Crispy Whole Branzino with sauce piccata, fried capers, lemon, chives, herb salad & crispy marbled potato and multiple premium cuts of steaks customizable with an array of add-ons. To pair, guests can indulge in Lapeer’s takes on classic cocktails plus some original creations from the beverage menu backed by a robust wine list featuring an extensive selection of New and Old World varietals.

The overall experience at Lapeer Steak & Seafood Birmingham will be complemented by the handsome design featuring a rich and moody color palette of dark browns, green and black with wood accents, custom furniture imported from Bali, live plants, and a central lounge area with a buzzing bar and two huge wine cages. The 6,500-square-foot space will include four rooms: the lounge, two dining areas and a private dining room with outdoor space.

Culinary Director Blake Hartley will bring over two decades of experience within the industry to the Lapeer Steak & Seafood Birmingham location. Excited to return to his Alabama roots, the Tuscaloosa native has honed his craft with time working under James Beard award winners Frank Stitt at Bottega Restaurant and Chris Hastings’ at Hot & Hot Fish Club, as well as Evangeline’s Restaurant in Tuscaloosa.

“This is a full circle moment for me, with a lot of my past industry experience working for some of the greatest in hospitality throughout Birmingham,” says Hartley. “We couldn’t be more excited to open in such a supportive city that understands and appreciates the details of service and to be a part of this nationally recognized food community with some of the South’s best chefs and restaurateurs.”
