Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen co-founders Yonnie Hagos and Ajay Relan, along with partner Issa Rae, announce today that the South LA darling is popping up on South Hill Street between 7th and 8th Street in Downtown Los Angeles beginning Wednesday, February 22 through the summer.

Says Rae, “Downtown LA has such a rich history of creativity and resilience. We are excited to share the Hilltop experience with the dreamers and doers of the local community.”

The Downtown menu will feature favorites like the Bangin’ Breakfast Sandwich, Soul Bowl, and Hilltop “Droptops”; signature drinks like the Matcha Chata and Lavender Latte; and locally roasted coffees.

In keeping with its mission to support creators who are on their own climb, Hilltop DTLA will continue their partnership with SoLA Contemporary, a BIPOC woman-led nomadic arts non profit that serves as a cornerstone of cultural and artistic innovation. SoLA advocates for change by empowering diverse communities to explore the intersection of identity, social justice and politics through the power of contemporary art.

Built in 1913, the building’s rich culinary history began in 1938 when the first floor was occupied by Sanford’s Nutritional Health Food Center and Juice Bar, followed by Schaber’s Cafeteria in the late 1940s with Quality House Liquors through the 80s.
