Nikutei Futago, an intimate, upscale Kaiseki restaurant in the heart of SoHo, is set to open on May 24 and will offer guests the ultimate Japanese experience. The restaurant’s namesake stems from nikutei, a special space that connects the everyday and extraordinary to make for a memorable visit – combined with a nod to the Japanese founding Lee brothers, who are twins, which means futago. Nikutei Futago, the sister restaurant to Yakiniku Futago – a globally acclaimed restaurant known for various concepts in more than 90 locations across Hong Kong, Japan, and the US, will be the first flagship location in New York.

Upon entry to this thirty-eight-seat restaurant, guests will be teleported into a lush garden filled with a Zen celebration of all the senses – through subtle and sophisticated designs complemented by warm and gracious service, the spirit of Iki is core to Nikutei Futago. Holding a plethora of meanings, Iki serves as the foundation for the restaurant – from the freshest of ingredients to an ambiance that is energized, lively, and sophisticated – guests will feel a sense of whimsical, spontaneous, and spirited moments consistently present throughout their visit.

The restaurant will offer a seasonal multi-course tasting menu for $375 per person, with an optional sake pairing menu for $125 per person. The menu will feature premium cuts of authentic Japanese A5 Wagyu accompanied by hand-crafted sauces and small dishes from Japan with locally sourced ingredients. With Japanese Wagyu taking center stage at the restaurant – the quality is paramount, offering only the highest possible classification imported from trusted Japanese purveyors. The quality of the Wagyu at Nikutei Futago is imperative – the staff’s education and authenticity are supreme, with expert handling, cutting, and presenting the beef as it is critical to the flavor and the guest experience.

“We are thrilled to bring exceptional kaiseki dining to the United States with the opening of Nikutei Futago,” says Atsuko Kidaka, Director of Operations, FTG company USA Inc. “We look forward to serving our guests a unique seasonal multi-course tasting menu with the finest cuts of authentic Japanese Wagyu and seeing them enjoy our stylish and sophisticated ambiance that is both elevated and extraordinary.”
