At a time when restaurants struggle to retain employees during the Great Resignation, Black Angus Steakhouse has stepped up incentives to keep their staff happy including throwing a party for Employee Appreciate Day. All locations will close to customers at 8:30 pm on March 2 while employees are invited to enjoy a celebration. Instead of the signature grilled meats that the restaurant is known for, pizzas and pasta will be provided so the chefs can relax and leave the cooking to someone else. Music will keep the mood festive along with raffles, prizes, and any tokens of appreciation customers left with management for their favorite workers.

“Black Angus is unique in the sense that we have employees who stay with us for decades and customers who return to the same location for years to see their favorite bartender or waiter,” says Deborah Shapiro, VP of Growth. “When we say that our work environment feels like a family, we mean it and we have the record to prove it.”

In fact, the steakhouse is proud that so many employees like the MOD in Albuquerque (42 years), a Food Server in Northridge (40 years), and the GM in Lancaster (33 years) have remained part of the Black Angus family for such a long tenure (employee names provided upon request). And the list goes on and on. Service awards are presented when employees reach milestones and they are allowed to choose a retail gift that ranges from $25 to $1400.

Black Angus recently mapped their Core Values (Heritage, Family, Quality, Value, Consistency, Loyalty, and Trust) as vital components for a healthy company ethos among employees, along with the customers who dine in their establishments. It’s no wonder why so many customers keep returning to Black Angus as if they’re family—in this case, one man has celebrated his birthday every year at Black Angus in Fountain Valley for the past 30 years, without fail. In addition to Employee Appreciation Night, Black Angus has amped up community involvement by partnering with minority-owned small businesses looking to increase their exposure among the 32 locations currently operating. Most recently, McBride Sisters Wine Company began offering Chardonnay at the restaurant chain last month and Me & The Bees Lemonade and Lillie’s of Charleston Spicey Mustard BBQ Sauce are slated to follow.
