Snooze an A.M. Eatery, the Denver-based breakfast and brunch destination, opens its 50th U.S. location today in West Midtown Atlanta. The opening is a major milestone for the company that has been making a big impact since launching in 2006. With each new Snooze comes new opportunities to make the world a better place — one pancake at a time. From their commitment to using only “Snooze Approved” vendors and suppliers to supporting local communities, Snooze has made good on their promises 50 times over.

Supporting Communities

For Snooze, community engagement and philanthropy are always ongoing. With every opening, Snooze hosts its signature “Community Days” weekend, where the restaurant offers free breakfast to the local community and donates any money earned that day directly to its charity partners. This initiative has raised more than $500,000 for local organizations since the first Snooze opening in 2006. Post-opening, each Snooze location then also gives back 1% of its annual revenue (and 10% of sales on each restaurant’s anniversary!) in support of their local community which has, to date, generated more than $5 million in local support across the country.

Supporting the Planet

Since its inception, sustainability has been at the heart of everything Snooze does. The brand developed its own set of rigorous “Snooze Approved” standards for all food and sourcing partners, ensuring that what Snooze is dishing out is good for the planet and its people. As of 2021, 95% of the ingredients used across the brand meet these standards. In addition, every Snooze diverts 90% of its waste from landfills (more than 10 million pounds of materials since 2014!) by recycling and composting or through biodigesters and is committed to hitting 100% within the next 10 years.  And on Earth Day 2020, Snooze committed to carbon-neutral to-go and delivery and has since diverted 905 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e), which is comparable to CO2 emissions from over 100,000 gallons of gasoline.

This passion runs deep, which is why Snooze trains each of their Snoozers in Sustainability 101 and more and appoints a Green Captain (and a team of Green Mentors) in each restaurant to keep Snoozers honest about sustainability efforts. From these efforts, Snooze has received recognition from environmental organizations in Denver and beyond including maintaining status as a Gold member of the Colorado Environmental Leadership Program.

Supporting their Team

Since there would be no Snooze without Snoozers, the leadership team is obsessed with taking care of their own. The brand’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and to each Snoozers’ individuality is at the core of the company culture, reinforcing that “everyone is welcome at [our] table.”

These commitments include, but are not limited to, practices and policies on recruitment and selection; being a Second Chance Employer; professional development and training; social and recreational programs; compensation and benefits; and the ongoing development of the Snooze work environment. Additionally, Snoozers collaborate with leadership on brand-wide initiatives through the Snooze Change Maker Board, which is comprised of team members from all regions and roles. Snoozers also support other Snoozers through the Snooze Compass Foundation, an employee created, run and funded organization that helps team members in times of need. The foundation has supported more than 400 team members and distributed $440,000 in funds since its inception in 2018. From the top down, the overall Snooze mission is to foster ownership and pride within its team, because happy Snoozers means better pancakes.

Atlanta and Beyond

“We are immensely proud of what we’ve accomplished throughout our 15 years of business,” says ‌David‌ ‌Birzon,‌ CEO ‌of ‌Snooze. “Opening our 50th location in West Midtown Atlanta represents so much more than bringing delicious breakfast and brunch to the people who love us. It represents new jobs, new ways to support our local communities, and bringing people together over the shared passion of bettering the world around us.”

The West Midtown Atlanta opening further demonstrates Snooze’s mission to offer the best food, made from the best ingredients, in the most inclusive environment, all adhering to Snooze’s high standards of excellence.
