Buckhead Village and Oliva Restaurant Group announced the upcoming opening of Carmel, a new restaurant inspired by the culture and cuisine of the coast. From Founder Tal Baum and Partners Brandon Hughes and Josh Riddle, the full-service restaurant and bar will serve lunch, dinner and weekend brunch. Oliva’s team is also behind beloved Atlanta restaurants Rina, Westside Provisions District’s Aziza and Falafel Nation, and Ponce City Market’s Bellina Alimentari and forthcoming Atrium. Carmel is set to open next year and will be located across from NARS at 3009 Bolling Way NE.

“Our take on coastal cuisine is less about a specific suite of recipes or from a particular region,” says Baum. “It’s a general philosophy and approach toward food characterized by fresh, bright flavors that allow the simplicity of the ingredients to shine through.”

Atlanta’s Smith Hanes Studio is designing the space, reminiscent of a light and airy living room and patio inspired by coastal cultures including Mediterranean and Californian. It will flow easily from indoors to outdoors with a cheerful and laid-back interior.

Tal Baum founded Oliva Restaurant Group in 2015 with the opening of Bellina Alimentari at Ponce City Market. All of Oliva’s concepts offer guests a one-of-a-kind experience with distinct elements inspired by Baum’s sense of style, creativity and attention to detail. Born and raised in Haifa, Israel, Baum moved to Florence, Italy at the age of 21 to study architecture at Florence University. She remained in Italy for seven years, where she mastered the language and developed an intimate knowledge of Italian cuisine. Today, Baum is the proprietor of Aziza, Falafel Nation, Bellina Alimentari, Rina and the forthcoming Atrium, a new restaurant at Ponce City Market serving a Modern American menu with European influence.
