Pitmasters and owners of Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q, Jonathan and Justin Fox, announced the grand opening of their second location in Atlanta’s Upper Westside at The Works on August 11th. Located at 204 Chattahoochee Row NW, the expansive 9,300-square-foot location looks to provide the surrounding neighborhoods with an authentic extension of the beloved barbecue brand.

Having opened the flagship location almost 14 years ago, Jonathan and Justin spent nearly four years searching for the perfect location for their second full-service restaurant. The twin brothers began their careers in barbecue throwing backyard parties for their friends after relocating to Atlanta from Fort Worth, Texas. Backyard parties grew into catering, a pop-up at Smith’s Olde Bar, to building the must-visit original location on Dekalb Avenue with their smokin’ ATL-style barbecue, classic southern sides and homemade desserts in addition to feeding hungry fans at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and Truist Park. In 2016, Fox Bros. Catering expanded to a commissary facility in Armor Yards (134 Ottley Drive) in order to fulfill demand as well as opening the neighboring standalone barbecue kiosk, The Que-osk.

“We’re finally smoking on the Westside!” says co-owner and pitmaster Jonathan Fox. “While this past year has been incredibly challenging for everyone, it’s definitely a bright spot to be able to open and create a space with our customers in mind. More seating, new offerings, and plenty of parking!”

Situated across from The Work’s one-acre canopy park, The Camp, the Westside location, designed by Seiber Design, nearly doubles the size of the original restaurant with 258-seats. While larger in size, the industrial space still evokes the same relaxed and welcoming spirit of the Dekalb Avenue restaurant with white painted brick, navy-blue accents, and red neon signage. Multiple seating opportunities include spacious booths and two covered patios. The 52-seat private dining room, adjacent to the main dining room, can be divided in two for smaller groups and functions while still capturing the energy of the dining room with hand painted murals of Texas roadhouses. The 34-seat indoor/outdoor bar space is the perfect spot for viewing the restaurant’s smokehouse featuring custom J&R Oyler and Moberg smokers, offering guests a behind-the-scenes look into the carefully smoked meats cooked daily to order.

The menu will reflect the greatest hits of the original location, including a permanent space for fan favorite daily specials. In addition to signature appetizers like Chicken Fried Ribs and Smoked Wings, guests will find a wider range of salads, and an expanded sandwich selection. Westside specialties will include the Texas Turkey Sandwich, the Carl Ruiz Smoked Bologna Sandwich, and the Foxy Melt (patty melt) featuring two Prime Certified Angus Beef Brisket ® patties, cheese, caramelized onions and poblanos on rye with beef fat dijonnaise. Classic smoked meats are also available by the half-pound as well as combo plates with a choice of home-style sides. Guests will also have the ability to pick-up and take-home packaged barbecue, sides, and rotating specials from a readily accessible walk-up window.

“This location is an opportunity for us to roll out projects that we’ve always wanted to offer at Dekalb but haven’t been able to do so because of space limitations,” says Jonathan Fox. “From expanding the menu to the grab-and-go barbecue, we’re excited to finally be able to expand our capabilities and offerings for our guests.”

Along with the spacious bar seating, the beverage menu will introduce new cocktails as well as a variety of rotating draft and canned beers, and crowd-pleasing wine varietals. Cocktails include the Tom Kreuz featuring gin, lemon, blackberry liqueur and seltzer as well as a Red River Rye Julep with Pinhook Rye, mint and black tea. In the coming months, the bar menu will introduce frozen twists on the Fox Bros. favorite watermelon margarita as well as a grapefruit paloma. “We’ve always dreamed of a bigger bar space, the perfect spot to pull up a chair to meet friends during happy hour, or to grab a quick bite during a lunch break. I can’t wait for our guests to try these new cocktails!” says Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q partner Beau Nolen. The brothers also look forward to introducing a bar snack menu in the future, with the opportunity to feature snacks and appetizers like tacos, pork skins with guacamole, and even the possibility of a Fox Armstrong skillet queso dip.

Selig is transforming an 80-acre historic industrial site into a thriving mixed-use destination with innovative retail, dining and entertainment offerings. The Works is also home to unique retailers and restaurants, such as Dr. Scofflaw’s, Ballard Designs, Adelina Social Goods, BOBO Intriguing Objects, Basik Spaces, Stellar Bodies, Les Mains Nail Bar and Chattahoochee Food Works, a 31-stall food hall. Additional tenants opening this year include American Axes, Teint by Sirene, BRASH Kitchen, and The Waffle Experience.

“Our family was so touched that Justin and Jonathan branded the Moberg smoker “Scotty” in honor of my brother, Scott,” says Mindy Selig, Senior Vice President. “Fox Bros.’ family-orientated business, an Atlanta institution, is exactly the vision my brother had for The Works and it is great to see the new space ready for business.”

Upon opening, the restaurant will be open Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday from 11 AM – 10 PM and Friday – Saturday from 11 AM – 11 PM. Parking is ample with parking decks and surface parking, in addition to valet and ride-share accessible drop-off and pick-up locations.
