Bar Vegan, a new restaurant from the team behind Atlanta’s acclaimed vegan burger restaurant Slutty Vegan, will open on the Second Floor of Ponce City Market’s Central Food Hall in February. From Slutty Vegan’s CEO and Founder Pinky Cole, the full-service restaurant and bar is part of the revolutionary vegan movement and will be open for nightly dinner, lunch at the bar and Sunday brunch.

Bar Vegan aims to be bold, memorable and experiential, introducing Atlanta to “bar theatre.” The restaurant will offer a fun, high energy atmosphere with exciting and exotic visual presentations of food and drink. Guests can expect really good vegan bar food – think sandwiches, salads, egg rolls, cauliflower wings, mushroom cheesesteaks, sweet potato tater tots and more, along with spins on Slutty Vegan favorites.

With a heavy focus on the beverage program, Bar Vegan will offer beer, wine and “experience cocktails” that are made tableside. The Foreign Fruit Punch will be served in an “Active Smokey Volcano,” and other cocktails may come in a fire extinguisher, gas can, ferris wheel or bank safe, complete with musical sound bites. The beverage team will also serve adapted versions of classic cocktails, like margaritas, cosmopolitans, old fashioneds, lemon drop martinis and more, and utilize organic, fresh-squeezed juices. A “Shaken Not Slurred” mocktail menu will also be available.

Designed by Johnson Studio at Cooper Cary, Bar Vegan’s vibe will be poppy and trendy, with accents of love throughout and multiple focal walls and design elements for guests to capture memorable photos. A private dining space will be available for events, large gatherings and celebrations.

“Today’s culture is exploring the truth, and the truth that we’re walking into is that, as a community, we are beginning to eat healthier and focus more on the things we put into our bodies,” says Cole. “Bar Vegan’s aim is to create an enjoyable experience for those who want to eat well and enjoy a bit of fun and flare, while still maintaining the vegan lifestyle.”

Amid COVID-19, the safety, health and well-being of workers and guests are top priorities at Bar Vegan. The restaurant will practice the following protocols:

  • Cleaning, sanitizing and safely disinfecting surfaces
  • Monitoring employee health and personal hygiene
  • Social distancing
  • Effective ventilation
  • Prohibiting sick employees in the workplace
  • Strict hand washing practices that include how and when to wash hands
  • Food safety, including staffing a certified food safety manager

Founded in 2018, Slutty Vegan quickly grew a loyal following thanks to CEO and Founder Pinky Cole’s cheekily named, creative takes on plant-based burgers and fun, party atmosphere. With a mission to provide quality vegan meals to communities that would have otherwise never had these options, the wildly popular concept has not slowed down since opening, with people from all over Atlanta and beyond lining up to try her famed vegan burgers. Today, customers can enjoy Slutty Vegan from its food truck in neighborhoods across metro Atlanta and at two brick-and-mortar locations, one in Jonesboro, Georgia and one in Atlanta’s Edgewood neighborhood. The restaurant has plans to open in Birmingham, Alabama, with additional locations to come over the next few years. Slutty Vegan has been featured on INC.com, CNN, Fast Company, INSIDER, ESSENCE, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Eater Atlanta and more.
