Tempe-based VooDoo Daddy’s Steam Kitchen has secured its first franchise contract shortly after its first year of operations, allowing the Cajun, creole and Caribbean restaurant to open its second location in Seguin, Texas. The franchise was purchased by Angela and George Green, and Christine and John Verhelst, who will open the new Texas location in the first quarter of 2021. The city of Seguin is home to more than 30,000 residents and is about 35 miles east of San Antonio.

“We are excited for the opportunity to grow VooDoo Daddy’s Steam Kitchen so quickly after its initial opening in 2019,” says VooDoo Daddy’s Steam Kitchen owner and founder, Ron Lynch. “We look forward to seeing how our franchise partners propel the restaurant’s growth in the Texas market.”

The full-service restaurant will be located in the historic Seguin Town Square in a 1920s-era hotel that replicates the atmosphere of a traditional New Orleans restaurant. The contemporary casual concept will offer the same authentic Cajun dishes as the original VooDoo Daddy’s Steam Kitchen. Highlights include the savory rich jambalaya, gumbo and pan roasts straight from the kitchen’s steam kettles, along with red beans and rice and rustic po’boys from the carving station. Beverages will include signature craft cocktails from the Sazarac Bar like the VooDoo Doll, made with pineapple vodka, pomegranate liquor, pineapple juice, pomegranate syrup and topped with a pineapple wedge or the Sazarac made with absinthe, simple syrup and Bulleit Rye. People can also choose from a selection of wine, beer and popular Hurricane flavors made frozen or on the rocks.

VooDoo Daddy’s Steam Kitchen owner Ron Lynch is no stranger to restaurant growth. In 2005 he acquired the intellectual rights to the Tilted Kilt concept and began to develop restaurants. In early 2006 there was just one location outside of Vegas, which Lynch never owned. At its peak, before Lynch left, Tilted Kilt had more than 100 restaurants throughout the U.S. and Canada. Lynch has more than 25 years of restaurant experience including opening more than 100 franchise locations of Schlotzsky’s Delis in multiple states.

The new VooDoo Daddy’s Steam Kitchen location will be located Park Plaza Hotel 217 River St. in Seguin, Texas.
